Xiang’s name actually appeared in XXX’s Chinese subtitles, and its official translation is 项, which is usually a Chinese surname (but can be a first name as well). The most famous person with this surname is 项羽 (Xiang Yu), a well-known hero and warlord back in Qin dynasty.

evocating:

/shrieks omg anon you are amazing thank you so much.

I didn’t even think of the possibility that ‘Xiang’ is actually his surname. It actually makes more sense than as a given name, so. Ahhh /flails around. Again, thank you so much!

(There weren’t Chinese subtitles in any of the three versions I watched. Just shows how Westernised my country is, I guess. Hmph.)

Actually, the chinese subtitles in my country translated Xiang as “翔”, which means “fly/soar”. It could be a given name or just a code name.

Maybe someone should ask Donnie Yen about it. I’d like to know the answer too lol
