Y’all reaching tbh. Not everyone is every movie can be black. Wonder Woman has always been white. If she was black and they casted a white woman then that’d be a different story, but Wonder Woman has always had that skin complexion and Gal Gadot ain’t even white…
ok first of all, americans can fuck off a lil bit.
The fact that wonder woman is greek and is played by an Israeli actress ? It’s kind of a big step here considering what superhero movies have done so far?
Sure Middle easterners and greeks and turks are caucasian and in thee US would be considered white,though most of us have darker complexions , but hear me oout once again… OUR CULTURE IS NOT.
OUr culture has been used and appopriated since the Roamns and and it’s become so bad that now everyone thinks our culture is the “western world” and the “whites” while us over here are being called the easterners, the ones who are nearly but not part entirely of th west, whaling in economical crises and internal conflicts, while the “western world” enjoys the profits of our millenia old civilizations, having us completely excluded from it, but only when it suits them.
It’s important to keep Wonder Woman’s identity known, because our cultures here in the east suffer from being part of neither side of the world. We’re too eastern for the west and too weastern for the east.
Now to respond to the person i rebloged this from, i sure think wonder woman could be of any eastern ethnicity. That is not denying the fact that she was greek. I mean,ancient greeks had very different skin tones and interacted with practically all of Africa and what is now South asia and there were people moving around and changing “countries” (they weren’t countrie sback then) of residence in a lot of ease, esp when it came to traders.
So the godesses couldv’e totally made her look like any person of the then knon world, since they were all equally respected and accepted/
But that would probably mean missing the chance to show off the wonderful culture that belongs to any part of Africa (not that now there’s any showing -off of the greek culture).
All that being said, the comics make very very bad use of our culture and quite a wrong and sloppy use of it, and the movie does little to right that, i see that no one cares about it thought….
I don’t because i’m used to it and also it’s a godamn female superhero, and it’s not a “mrs mcwhitey”, it’s an eastern (be it in the middle between est and west) woman, portrayed by a woman whose culture has also suffered a lot and who is part of a culture that gets a lt of shit by westerners. And that’s quite important.
Learn a little bit before you start sayng shit about “bland white girls” rejecting the culture of origin and dismissing it as simply “white”.
