Concerning Mirage:

So, let me be straight with you all. I was pretty “meh” about Mirage before this issue. In the Transformers fandom overall, really.

The start of this issue didn’t really change that much. Though I did get a giggle out of this scene:

Though I don’t know why. He just makes me laugh a little when he gives Getaway the hand.

Anyway, it really didn’t help how quickly he settled into “Visages.” He never even questions Swerve’s absence. He probably was told the same story everyone else was, and sent on his way. The fact that he just accepts it bothered me a little, but okay. Honestly, it’s just more of the joke being that Mirage is an uptight aft:

But then First Aid gets his suspicions and calls them all together. I already knew Mirage was going to play Unicron’s Advocate to First Aid’s accusations, but you know what? This was the turning point for me. Because of this scene:

Not only does he actually make a fairly good point regarding turning on their friends, but you have to feel for him. He’s obviously nowhere near the loop on this entire affair. He doesn’t want to believe that these people could have betrayed them, and can you blame him? He gives several examples of people he thought was his friends. He’s completely upfront about being approached about the mutiny, too. This isn’t someone who is making excuses to make himself feel better. He’s trying to rationalize the behavior of people he trusts and cares for.

And then this scene happens. You know the one I’m about to show.

The second it’s clear that not only has he been played, but Getaway and the crew have done something unforgivable, he isn’t having any of their bull. He makes his displeasure painfully clear in the best way possible.

I may also be biased because he just hit Getaway with a glass and that is HELLA cathartic.

In conclusion, if this issue did nothing else of merit (and it did MANY things of merit), it made me finally learn to love Mirage. And that’s a beautiful thing.

So true. Also, Mirage was wrongly accused of being a traitor and beaten up bad by Ironhide back in All Hail Megatron. This must made him extra sensitive about loyalty and not want to believe someone as traitor easily. But the rage he must felt when facing a real traitor… Getaway was lucky Mirage was holding a pint glass at the time.
