God damn, so apparently the Thrawn comic’s out Eli is as pale as the moon. I was really hoping they’d bring in some more color with Eli. I really loved the idea of him being either mixed or some kind of Hispanic since Star Wars tends to reinforce the idea that Core Worlds = Europe and so I was just ??
But oh well, I guess, time to scrap everything and lie in a corner because God forbid we have some color in the Empire.

Ehh, the canon Empire isn’t against non-white humans, though. That’s not the issue here. What we are saying is it would be nice for Marvel to provide us another non-white Imperial, and Eli would have given them a great opportunity. I do like your HC of Eli as light-skinned Hispanic, though.

Ah, against Wild Space folk absolutely, which really boils down to prejudice against social and economic status, not skin color. Fancy schmancy Core Worlders are notorious for that. They gave Tarkin and Palpatine shit for not being from Core Worlds too! There are definitely snobs in the Empire, but it’s not human racism.

I also want a poc Eli but if we go with the Empire/core World is Europe comparison, there is intense regional racism/nationalism (what’s the correct word for it?) in Europe despite them being all “white”, so my white Eli headcanon is that he is space Irish XD I always imagine him with an Irish accent for some reason.
