I think I’ll open my own post about Finn and what they said about how he was moving on from caring about himself and his immediate circle of friends…

I think they got Finn’s character growth the wrong way around.
Except for the first time he decided to run away from the First Order,
Finn never really think about himself. He is so selfless and he always put his
friends way before him, but except for the initial
desertion,
his actions

were all for the consideration of other people, he even gave
away what he wanted to do (just get away from the FO) in order to help
his new friends. I don’t know how to describe this feelings precisely,
but… although it’s great and precious that Finn is such a selfless and
compassionate person, especially when he’s growing up in such a terrible
environment like the FO, but you gotta love and think about yourself
and your own need too?

There should be less funny
casino shits and more character reflection about Finn, in Canto Bight,
seeing all the ugly rich and the slave kids, and makes him think about
himself and what he really wants to do except “I gotta help Rey”. I
mean, he left the First Order only days ago, Canto Bight could be a
great place and time for him to really think about what he wants, and
what his position is in all this (Rey’s line suits Finn’s situation
imo). That’s why I love his moment of declaring himself as a rebel.
Because that’s a choice he made for himself. But I didn’t see the transition through the Canto Bight plot.

I
don’t know if it will be better if Rose is the one who wanted to do the
suicide crush and Finn is the one to say it’s about saving who you love
or not to throw your life easily. Considering the stormtroopers were
probably brainwashed to throw out their life for the FO like they’re
nothing, it would be nice for Finn to point that out?

^^^^^ THIIIIIIS

OK so just to elaborate-

Finn going from tool-of-the-First-Order to selflessly putting his own fears aside for his friends to… becoming a tool-of-the-Resistance is actually just going full circle. Except instead of complaining over the FO using people, were now supposed to celebrate the R for doing the same thing?

I think it’s about to clearly state that Finn joined the Resistance because that’s what he decided after he got the chance to see part of the wider world. Otherwise it’s like you said, he just turned from tool of the FO to tool of the Resistance.

It’s like the difference between… I choose this tiny crappy table after surveying the whole cafe because I like this corner better V.S. I have to move from a filthy big table to a tiny crappy table because my friend already sit there so I have to.

OK, I made weird comparison lol
