Mon Mothma knew the remain of the Empire still…

/laughs
Mothma’s an idealist who believes in democracy and if you restore the voice to the people everyone will work together to better things. Which is…pretty spectacular considering she was there for the Clone Wars.

But…yeah. Doesn’t surprise me.

In a way it’s admirable because it’s exactly her kind of Faith Gesture. But still.

Strategically…not the best.

Democracy is great and ilealism is fine but cut down 90% of your defense force when your neighbor is a genocidal maniac is down right stupid. Even more so when the First Order was clearly building up their military and has already infiltrated into the New Republic.

She didn’t strike me as so stupidly being a blind idealist in Rebels, more like someone who’s being calculating and careful (considering the Rebels is essentially a
guerrilla

force with significantly weaker resources, it’s understandable). Maybe she changed, maybe she simply showed her true color. I don’t know, it’s so disappointing though.

Believe me Mothma is a badass female politician in Empire’s End, she knew how to delegate and somehow manipulate people to get what she want, she’s not some saint and she even accepted Sinjir as her assistance, imagine this move could get her a lot of criticism, like “ how dare you do you want to restore Empire bureaucracy? That loyalty officer is a war criminal!”. Mothma said because Sinjir didn’t believe democracy so he can give her more realistic advise. Lucasfilm please give me a Mothma+Sinjir Star Wars political TV show, I need this very badly.

She definitely is an idealist but that also doesn’t stop her from being calculatingand cunning.

It wasn’t a great move to cut down the forces while some really fanatic empire members still went around but, the Republic is also consisting of other people as officials and in. Any occasions it shows. They are not very smart. Sometimes they can also be bad and blind

I think maybe she was kinda convinced to do it by them and tried to remain as OK to everyone because starting g dispute with people esp at a time. Like that would cause trouble.

I think lost troubles for the Republic begun with people misinterpreting the idea of democracy and misusing the political system, much like it happens in real life America, especially with kind of problematic liberalism that is like “oh Nazis are people too violence is bad against them they also have a right to free speech”

Lol that’s not democracy my pal democracy is a political system I which the majority makes the decisions for the state but whatever is threatening to the majority or group of people is deemed unconstitutional.

Feel like the same issue happens in the Republic and Mon Mothma was faced with 2 types of people one of the being like above. Eventually she’d have to make a choice to avoid the most conflict.

I wish we could seeore of the Republic that way too.

Why do I have the feelings that “ohhhh First Order are people too we shouldn’t push the ex-Empire that hard uvu” is probably what really went down lol

If it turns out that Mon Mothma wants to keep a reasonable amount of military force (I bet Sinjir knows how the fanatic side of the Empire people think more than others), but is actually voted out by the uvu First Order are people too uvu Senators (I mean, the US elected Trump, after all lol)… it would be infuriating and ironic. Even tragic since she stepped out of politics later and considering her age, she probably died watching the First Order attacking the New Republic.
