Just watched Black Panther.

No spoilers:

It’s a great origin movie. It tells a rich story about Wakanda, it’s culture and people, and T’challa’s road to be a king.

All the women in the movie are great. They have their own personalities, backgrounds, and stand on their own grounds, which is better than most, if not all Marvel movies. You have to see them for yourselves *clench fists*

Healthy and respectful brother/sister, mother/son, woman/man woman/woman relationships in a big budget Hollywood movie? Big yes.

Erik is the most in dept and
sympathetic villain in Marvel movies, he did bring some good points about Wakanda (and T’challa)’s position even though his approach is apparently wrong.

I love how they not so subtly burn the white people several times in the movie. But they managed to give Agent Rose a more in depth and likable characteristic in his (rightfully) limited screen time. Pffff can’t tell the same for the white people who write their “minority” characters.

I also like the message this movie is trying to convey. There’s surprisingly quite a few topics they touched about, like the balance between us vs non-us, conservative vs open. They didn’t make it complicate, but it’s nice to walk through all that with T’challa.

PS: I think the movie catch phrase for Black Panther in Taiwan is genius. There is a chinese proverb 以暴制暴/fight fire with fire, which literally means fight violence with violence. And in mandarin, 暴 sounds the same as 豹/panther, so the catch phrase for Black Panther is 以豹制暴/fight violence with panther XDDDDDD

Spoilers for the bonus feature:

The Wakanda kids called Bucky “white wolf”. It’s so cute. I’m glad he’s better ;w;
