how did these people manage to take over the world
i remember seeing tumblr discourse once where someone from the UK was making fun of americans having so much air conditioning and telling us to just “open a window” while it regularly reaches 100+ degrees Fahrenheit here in the summer and y’all are passing out in cool breezy 75 degrees weather
In one sense I don’t want to make fun of this, because suddenly running in temperatures much higher than you’re used to is serious, no matter what the temperatures are…
But yeah, they don’t actually have weather in England.
And not just running in temperatures much higher than they’re used to, but trying to run 26.2 miles! Which – I mean, I remember last year really struggling to make the switch from winter to summer, and not being used to carrying fluids anymore and having to readjust to that and remember to take water breaks and slow down and all of those things, and just for a five mile run. So this is genuinely a serious thing – to train for several months for one set of conditions and have to suddenly adapt to very different and unexpected and unfamiliar conditions is going to lead to a lot of weirdness, and that’s not really mockable, to me.
It’s just that I never thought of northern Michigan as having particularly warm summers compared to… well, anyone (save maybe Antartica), and that’s a readjustment to make to my mental landscape for sure.
(But on the imaginary third hand – not having to have weather does sound kind of nice right now.)
LMAO 23C is q nice breezy weather in greece
Global warming my friends, but LMAO when the
XXIX Summer Universiade
held in Taiwan last year, it was >35C plus >60% humidity everyday, try running marathon in THAT weather.
Cute canadian athlete in interview: I got used to it after a few weeks *showed ice coffee on her hand*
