My grandmother’s garden has
chayotes. I didn’t know it’s originated from south america, always thought it’s a local plant because it’s very common here. We called the fruit “buddha’s hand” in mandarin.

We also eat the sprout of chayotes plant in Taiwan, and we call it “dragon’s whisker”.
