Is it wrong that I don’t like mosquitos?
There are people who like mosquitoes?
Fun Fact: Mosquitos kill more people than any other creature on earth due to the diseases they carry (some of which could theoretically cease to exist without the mosquito as a carrier). They serve no purpose that isn’t adequately fulfilled by other insects, and the world would legitimately be better off without them.
Don’t listen to tenaflyfuckingvip*r. Mosquito larvae are the number one food source for a bunch of species that would go extinct without them. No animal is unnecessary
Sounds like something a mosquito would say.
Looks like @lightningclone is a mosquito agent provocateur!
Like…I totally understand if they’re legitimately concerned about the environment, but the world would genuinely be better off without–at the very least–the species of mosquitoes that transmit disease. From the article linked above:
“Malaria infects some 247 million people worldwide each year, and kills
nearly one million. Mosquitoes cause a huge further medical and
financial burden by spreading yellow fever, dengue fever, Japanese
encephalitis, Rift Valley fever, Chikungunya virus and West Nile virus.
Then there’s the pest factor: they form swarms thick enough to
asphyxiate caribou in Alaska.”“Yet in many cases, scientists acknowledge that the ecological scar left
by a missing mosquito would heal quickly as the niche was filled by
other organisms. Life would continue as before — or even better.”Even koalas serve a purpose by making millions per year for the Australian tourism industry by being cute and fluffy, despite being massive evolutionary mistakes.
I will use the infinity gauntlet to kill all the mosquitos
