That page about the Coruscant police and Quinlan Vos was really interesting. I was wondering if Scum and Villainy has anything else in it about what the relationship between the police on Coruscant and the Jedi was like?
The start of the intro to the Republic era segment of Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy’s Most Notorious (2018) by Pablo Hidalgo (all images in this post are from this book)
There is a lot in here on topic. Of course there is.
Overall, it appears that Coruscant’s law enforcement really did not like the Jedi, and were buying all of Palpatine’s anti-Jedi propaganda, hook line and sinker.
The only Jedi the police actually liked was Quinlan Vos.
Throughout the book we see descriptions of several operations we know Jedi were involved with (stopping Wesell’s attempt on Senator Amidala’s life for example) and see that the police reports either left the Jedi out of their reports outright, or seriously downplayed their involvement.
One thing the Police seemed to agree with the Jedi on was that it was wrong and unfair that the Republic Judiciary denied the Clones any right to due process when convicted of wrongdoing.
There is more, just about every case file from this era has some sort of mention of the Jedi in them, generally written with an overly suspicious tone.
I think it is safe to say that towards the end of the Republic, the relationship between the Police and the Jedi was terrible.
BOBA DIDN’T EVEN GET A FUCKING TRIAL BEFORE BEING SENT TO A MAXIUM SECRUITY ADULT PRISON
I think a general problem of the late Jedi Council is that they think the general every day mobs and smugglings are too below their level even though that might be a huge problem to lower-to-medium class citizen and the (good) police. The Jedi Council will refuse to help the police force for their “neutrality” and “not part of the politic” shits even though good people are dying every day and even one Jedi can be a great help. Not to mention that the Jedi has automatic higer authority whenever they stick their hands in an event. I can’t imagine the police force would like the Jedi council at all. They probably think them a bunch of pricks.
