Pontic Greeks– Pontic Greeks are ethnic Greeks who live around the Pontus region of Anatolia, bordering the Black Sea. Having lived in the region from at least 700 BC, many were forced to leave Turkey as a result of the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Those who remain were subjected to an ethnic cleansing now called the Greek or Pontic Genocide. Today the majority of Pontic Greeks live in Greece, the United States, and Germany.
