Re-reading First Host to bleach my brain from reading Dark Origin.
Sleeper is such a drama queen. “I’ve been kept in a cage my whole life”. Come on, kid, you’re just a few months old, or course you stayed in the toddler fence lmao
I know, right! Sleeper in this panel is the equivalent of 18 years old. Just wait until I go to college, MOM
I was thinking about this and I wonder if there’s something deeper here like Klyntar biology has them fully formed and ready to fend for themselves immediately after birth? I think that’s largely true (cf. Carnage), so Sleeper as a symbiote was ready for a host from birth and yet kept in a tank for several months by overprotective parents.
I think those months must have felt like years to Sleeper, because it was ready from the minute it was born but Eddie ‘i’m now a father’ Brock and Venom ‘please don’t turn into Carnage’ Symbiote just… really didn’t want it to turn out like its eldest sibling.
Honestly, I think you’re right. Sleeper was, in all likelihood, ready to bond with someone and start fucking shit up from the second he popped out. When I look at it from that perspective, I can understand why he’s a bit housebound.
Now, you could argue, and by you I mean Costa, that after all the shit that’s happened to Eddie’s and Venom’s respective bodies (visiting the Klyntar world and being cleansed, Eddie being anti-venom etc.) maybe the baby is just a little slow to mature; same reason birthing Carnage was a non-issue whilst birthing Sleeper was a struggle. *shrugs*
This is a great point. Maybe Sleeper is always ready, he’s just being a good kid, but once he’s out he was like “the space is fun, dads you are both great but you are both nerds i’ll go traveling, bye”
