After 4,000 years of dynasties, beginning with the Xia in the 2100s BCE, China had a rough transition to modernity. The country would not be truly unified until after World War II and the victory of the Communist Party in 1948.
Only China can have a Civil War while having WWII. It’s a big mess.
But China has not yet 100% Truly Unified since Republic of China retreated to Taiwan and is still well and alive now while the communist People’s Republic of China stays in… well, mainland China.
Technically RoC is not accepted by the UN as an actual country, even though it’s RoC that founded the UN (and PRoC took over it’s place after their victory), but we do have our own passport, government, money etc., and the US sure likes to mention us whenever it wants to poke at PRoC, so we are a like a Schrödinger’s Country lmao
I am catching up with the Venom comics on Comixology. But the collective volumes (Venom vol. 1-4) don’t have the ones where Venom was involved in other superhero stories, and the stories are discontinous and confusing since it’s so obvious that they lack big chunks of plot in between, but I don’t have the time and effort and money to get all other comics. I guess that’s just life.
Also I am curious when the tone of the relationship between Eddie and Venom symbiote changed. It seems that they are both pretty fucked up in some of the early stories, pretty sure it was just a mad man and a blood thirsty alien before.
I’ve read: Venom vol. 1-4. Venom: The Hunger. Venom: First Host.
Though the Anti-Venom arc is ???? on a lot of levels, you gotta appreciate Gargan (while bonded with the symbiote) calling the symbiote and Eddie ex-boyfriends and then confirming that the symbiote is in love with Eddie even while Eddie is actively trying to kill them.
