The plot all about your usual wu-xia fantasy
cliché. Overall, It’s not outstanding but is not too bad either.
I just don’t get why every male character’s hair is all over their face, it’s ridiculous and impractical. How could one fight if they can’t see nothing?

but shows off his waist and butt really well, so I guess it’s… nice?
The Arm Porn is very strong in this movie, also a plus.

This movie is really good. I like how it combines wu-xia and detective element in the movie (might be confusing for those who are not familiar with chinese wu-xia fantasy). The characters are good, the villain is scary in a good way. It does have an rather abrupt end though. I rather ope they didn’t ended the boss fight like that.
Donnie Yen and Takeshi Kaneshiro as the main leads are a treat for my eyes.
Wow, this movie is only 4 years younger than me. It manages to be a fun action film without any nowadays special effects. Of course it suffers from some flaws from old-timer action films such as “the bullets are merely an indication of -10HP, they are not life-threatening nor movement-impairing even though the guy has been shot at left chest” and some weird editing during the action scenes, but overall it’s fast-paced and entertaining.
The female lead (who is the actual lead of the movie) is really great too. She fights and gets beaten the same as her fellow male actors, there is no holding back from either side. The actress, 楊麗菁, who graduated from a dancing school in Taiwan, did a very good job making the fighting scene looking powerful even with real martial artists in the film.
Overall, I like this movie a lot.
Donnie Yen made many funny expression in it too so it’s an extra.
