The Han Solo movie is actually not bad, certainly much better than what I expected:
Pros:
- Really like to see some “dirty” warfare in the SW movies. The grittiness WWI ditch style is a great way to finally show how some Empire invasion can get real ugly.
- I think the Siege of Lasan is probably like this: full scale, down-right brutal ground attack.
- L3-37 is great. Finally, someone addressed the awkward social caste the droids are in. I am glad not every droid is happy about being a servant at best, slave at (not even worse)
normal. - Lando is eye catching. Really like his subtle romantic (one way?) chemistry with L3. The way he totally lost it when L3 was shot is really moving.
- Enfys Nest is a great surprise. I would like to see more of her story and her relation with the Rebellion in future works.
- THAT WAS A GIANT PURRGIL AMIRIGHT?????? THAT THING LOOKS SCARY IN THE LIVE ACTION MOVIE WTF!!!!
- The art design and world building are both great. You can totally see the social class difference without feeling jarring (looking at you, TLJ).
Cons:
- The plot is just a simple heist/western story, though there’s nothing wrong, there’s nothing too special either.
And since I have guessed most of the death list before the movie lmao, it is sort of predictable. - I’m actually not sure about Maul’s appearance, it’s too much for cameo and/or future movie set up’s sake.
- Han seems to trust/help Enfys Nest too fast in the end. He is so trusting to the point of being a bit naive. But I guess it also showed in ANH? So it kinds of fit his character.
