Drabble idea for you: Thrawn scaring Eli, whether intentionally or not. >:) Conversely, you could also do a second one where Eli tries to scare Thrawn (maybe in retaliation?). Whether he’s successful or not is up to you.

“I…. you’re not going to tell me that one’s made up, either?”

Eli watched Thrawn for a reaction, but the Chiss merely continued to stare straight back at him. There was no amusement. No immediate dismissal. The silence lingered, making Eli’s story truer with each passing moment.

“I have said before there is truth to such legends. It appears your people remember some of their past encounters with the Chiss with more clarity than others.”

Eli’s heart hitched in his chest. Fear clutching a cold vice over his ribs.

“It is perhaps this incident which caused the creation of the myths you’ve already shared.”

Eli tore his eyes away. An irrational fear for his life took over. Had he ousted the Chiss? Had he uncovered a ploy by these blue-skinned aliens to dominate and enslave the galaxy?

“I regret the mistakes of my ancestors-“

“That’s all?”

“I don’t understand.”

“That’s all you’re going to say?”

“My people are not proud of these past… encounters. But at the time we followed a different doctrine. Now, the Ascendency-”

“-exiled you. You said it yourself, it was for a disagreement with their way of doing things. So that begs the question of who you were launching that preemptive strike against.”

Thrawn studied Eli a moment, until a small smile tugged at his lips.

“I see your ability to make connections is quite sharp.”

“Get to the point.”

“I have no ill intentions for you, or anyone else in your Empire. As it stands, the Ascendency has been so ashamed by past Chiss actions, it now refuses to make any move until first acted upon. Even to the point of ignoring millions of innocents being slaughtered by an Evil Force.”

Eli raised an eyebrow – intrigued, but not entirely sure whether or not to trust him.

“So…” he worked through the pieces. “The pendulum swung too far in the other direction? They think they went too far before, and they think the only way to correct it is by doing nothing?”

“Excellent,” Thrawn commended.

“Then what role are you playing?”

“With any luck, the decisive one.”

Yaaaaay! Thank you!! Very interesting direction to take it. I approve! Very well done. 👍💙💙💙

Eli scares Thrawn:

There was a silly tradition on Lysatra. The Fool’s Day. A day in which friends would play a trick or a practical joke on each other, and while it may have seemed ridiculous to these Core World snobs on Coruscant, for Eli it was a reminder of home.

Now, he dropped a couple of hints now and there, informing Thrawn about the tradition, and from the small nod, Eli assumed the alien understood and filed it away. He didn’t expect Thrawn come do something as silly as come up with a prank of his own, but he expected him at least to remember.

“Thrawn, look, I’ve developed a super power.” Eli grinned at the alien, reaching out with his hand towards a datapad, which shook and then lifted from the table, levitating slowly towards him.

Eli put a lot of time and preparation into his little prank; he put a miniature anti-grav generator inside, and he installed a remote control, programming it with this specific set of orders, but to a casual observer, it looked as if the object levitated in the air upon Eli’s will.

“See?” He said with a pride. “I’m a Jedi.”

Thrawn froze, growing utterly still, watching the scene unfold with disbelief. The pale blue face, the alien, otherwise so unreadable face stared at him with open shock.

Eli broke into laughter, nearly doubling over. “Sithspit, Thrawn, your face!” He snickered. “You so fell for it!”

Eli expected a snort or a remark about how childish and immature Eli’s behavior was, but for some reason the alien was still staring at the datapad as if in a strange trance.

“Thrawn?” Eli said in a worried tone. “Are you all right?”

The alien jerked, and then finally caught himself, clearing his throat, reaching to his throat with his right hand, scratching the muscles.

“I am perfectly all right, Cadet Vanto.” He said in a hoarse voice.

“Thrawn?” Eli repeated in a confused tone. “Are you really all right?”

“Yes.” The alien insisted. “You merely caught me off guard, that is all.”
