Guess we could have gotten that knock on the door scene with him being shirtless…we could have had it all…but the producers knew he would be too powerful with his full lips and shown abdomen…

God he is just such trifecta of Normal 40-Something Human Body, Dirty Sexy Tattoo Boy, and Highly Kissable Movie Star and I think that juxtaposition, after years of being given perfect blonde Chris perfection, totally threw us for a loop in the most wild and arresting way

he threw us off our rhythm

here’s a soon-too-spicy-for-tumblr take: “eddie being hurt = eddie being naked” makes him viable for sexualisation by comic book artists and audiences in the way big beefy men usually aren’t. you know that debate wherein men’s bodies in comics aren’t/weren’t shown for titillation, but for identification, for power fantasies? eddie’s got that, but he’s also showing the most skin whenever he’s at his most submissive and vulnerable, and that really screws with the tropes!

is this naked chained up damsel in distress hanging from the ceiling and writhing in agony not oddly familiar??? have you not seen this somewhere before

Hey, what the heck?!?!

What’s going on here?!

Just when you thought “Mary Brock Deserved Better” sentiments couldn’t get any higher.

Because we know she definitely existed. She even interacted with other non-Brock people.

So, what’s going on?!?!

Why does her father literally not remember her and not just the usual not giving a damn about his kids?

Also I will say, I think this scene says a lot about Eddie too.

He put up with his dad hugely insulting him, disowning him, threatening to call the police and him and all the abuse the monster inflicted.

But this – his sister being disrespected like that – is where he immediately draws this line.

This is pretty odd. My guess is maybe his sister is just a fiction the Venom symbiote had him hallucinate so she wad never actually real.

Like Venom went into eddies mind and realiced eddie always wanted a sibling so he messed with his memories and made him believe he had a sister, to keep him happy.

But then (maybe just before he separated) the symbiote had him believe she died so he would never want to separate from venom, believe he was all he had

^that is exactly what I thought.

We might be about to experience the biggest fridging in history. She isn’t just dead, she was a figment of your imagination the whole time.

Of course, I’m not exactly peaches and sunshine about this whole run. Who knows, maybe she’ll come back with an interesting backstory and powers, or something. We did all just mistake a coin for a ring.

Although….it’s worth noting that the scene in question turned out to be him coughing up blood, so I don’t…think…we were like, proven to be overly optimistic, or something.

I am into the conspiracy theory that the Carl and Dylan Brock we saw in #9 are either not the real ones or being mind controlled (maybe by Ultimate Reed to manipulate Eddie into getting info he wants?)

If not, it’s a huge fuck up on Cates’ side because as much as I hate Dark Origin, Mary is there and real. But since Cates doesn’t look like he cares about previous canon to the point that he retconed the very reason Carl Brock hates Eddie, who the fuck knows.

PS: There is a meme on Taiwanese internet that people will tell anyone who talks about their sister to “Wake up! You don’t have a sister!” because there used to be a trend of dudes writing fake posts about their sisters to gain attention. I really don’t want get an actual chance to use this meme on Eddie Brock.
