I can’t stop laughing at these panels of the Venom symbiote without a host. It looks like Flat Stanley had a baby with a windsock, or maybe a grimdark reboot of Gumby. That last panel of it floating off over New York like a shitty magic carpet is the least dignified thing I’ve ever seen.
I just realized why comic Eddie and his Other are the best match.
According to the 2018 comic, the symbiotes are a race born from the void, they were made to kill and destroy, but they ended up wanting to be closer to the light. It’s just like Eddie, who was in a very dark place, have done many terrible things, but part of him still want to do good. A hero may influence a symbiote with their light, but they can’t fully understand a creature of darkness, only Eddie, who’s been there, done that can truely embrace the conflict of a symbiote (even though it took him years lmao)
Okay I really like this idea, especially one where Maria gets, like, a happier ending, but can this also mean that she’s literally the mediator for their first couple of dates? Like she’s doing her usual half-flirtatious thing with Eddie and the newspapers, but then Venom decides that he wants in on it and like, encourages Maria to try to follow Eddie, or to get to know more about him, and Maria is like “um, why not just…..speak to him?”
Oror or or or Maria introduces Eddie to Venom, like, out of sight or something, and the three of them have this weird moment of “….well what now” and Venom just decides to go into Eddie (causing of course The Most amount of panic possible because he’s truly a Dramatique Gay™) and then Eddie gets to live with Venom for a little bit, to which Maria is like “yeah if you don’t want him anymore, like, let me take him back but I think that you could, like, enjoy this”
