Venom: The Madness (1993-1994)

This mini series has so many questionable creepy stuffs, and I’m not talking about the gore.

(Warning: mentioned of attempted rape)

In short, Eddie saw a man who worked for a chemical company accusing the company of doing some secret mercury experiment and got him sick, and a woman who was a lawyer trying to sue the company of illegal dump of their pollutive waste water.

The company hired Juggernaut to kidnapped the woman, Venom stopped him but was thrown into a wasted sewer and was badly injured. The experimantal mercury which was dumped by the company was actually a sentient virus. It infected and bonded with Venom, but the mercury’s multiple personalities were driving Venom super unstable to the point that Eddie/Venom/the Mercury was trying to force the woman because Eddie liked her. I was so afraid that the writer was going for the rapist route but thank the Force Juggernaut invervened so nothing explict happened. And the story ended with nothing really got solved, but the woman forgive Eddie, declined being in a romantic relationship with him (them?) but remain friends, which it…. yeah.

The plot is a mess, and not worthy of all the uncomfortable almost sexual assault panels.

Venom also got sucked in to a weird dimention to fight some creepy demons. WTF?

The only good panel in the whole book: (the woman asked Eddie about his relationship with “the suit”)

coraorvat:

Anne almost wishes they were still in a raw-lobster-in-a-tank phase~

yaay there’s my tribute to this lovely romcom♥ godgod I’d die to see an actual Venom sitcom with Dan and Anne as a supportive couple next door
For all the guys comparing movie’s symbrock dynamics with comics I say shhh just give dem time~

Comic Eddie Brock is running buck naked 65% of the time. I’m deeply dissapointed that they didn’t keep it to the canon in the Venom
movie. It’s not like Tom Hardy would protest.

Venom: Seperation Anxiety

An interesting read to get more insight of the characters.

Eddie was not in a good mental state. He felt guilty, was suicidal, he’s a mess.

But apparently the US government thought it’s a good idea to lock an sentient alien and a human in transparent tubes and do whatever experiment they wanted on their prisoners… sounds about right.

And here came their childrens… love the 90′s comic’s absolute no shy about nakeness.

Meanwhile poor Venom just wanted to be with Eddie again…

Venom symbiote, the most precious poor baby ;w;

At least Eddie started to admit that their deeds were not just becasue of Venom’s influence but his own decision as well.

Personally, I think since Eddie is the one with a more complex/mature/full concious (from what I’ve read from the earlier comics, Venom symbiote didn’t seem to have a complex mind, just simple, more instinctice thoughts), he should be more responsible for giving in to all those killing. But I guess that’s what character growth is for.
